Be still in the chaos

Chaos rattles our world.
It shakes us up,
turns us upside-down,
on twists and turns,
flips us in the air,
and stomps us to the ground.
It backs us up against the wall
with nowhere to run.
It hovers above and around us like
a kettle of vultures circling their prey.
Chaos blinds us to what’s inside
because we see the world
with our natural eyes
and focus on what is and what’s not
instead of what could be.
The killing, the dying,
the hate, the crying,
the lack of funds,
the lack of work,
the lack of sympathy and empathy.
There’s only hurt.
Chaos brings death to our souls,
especially when we pound our heads
against the walls to find solutions
that may never come.
That is, not until we become still.
Only then can we kill
the chaos.
By being still.
Not just physically still.
But mentally,
emotionally,
spiritually
STILL.
Stop thinking.
Stop figuring.
Stop analyzing.
Stop agonizing.
Just.
Be.
Still.
